Their are definitely some treasures in there, "Cath" is amazing but overall I don't know if I think its that great. Every other Death Cab album can be listened to from start to finish but this one I have to skip a couple of songs. The single was kind of questionable too. But I still got nothing but love for good old Death Cab and Mr. Gibbard.

Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	ummmm YES! i started a dcfc thread... oh i see it just got bumped. maybe i should post in there. meh- i'm here now. i am enjoying narrow stairs. i agree that it doesn't sound a lot like trans or plans- but it DOES sound like the albums before those (like we have the facts and photo album). my first faves are pity and fear, long division, and grapevine fires. all time favorite: a lack of color sara. no h.

Posts: 9 (05/26/08 01:03 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	i agree with the new album being a bit of a departure from "plans and trans." seeing as those were the albums that brought them so much popularity in the first place, itll be interseting to see how this one holds up in the long run. my one friend didnt find it "introspective" enough for him and i disagreed with him on that. the beauty of death cab is in their lyrics, which always tell a story even if the means of conveying it is a little different. this album has a bit more of an indie rock vibe than their others, save their earlier stuff, but the songwriting skill is still the same. who else but ben gibbard could write a song that describes the state of a relationship as a 3rd grade math problem? brilliant. "without a remain remain remain remainder...." ive got tickets to the mccarren park pool show in brooklyn in a couple of weeks. awesome outdoor venue, good friends, great music. itll be my first death cab show. anyone ever seen them live before?

And Brothers on a Hotel Bed was one of my favs on Plans But yeah, I realised this time round when I listen to Narrow Stairs time just flies by without me noticing man of the songs and before you know it, it's finished. Perth is not neglected once again!!!! Now I need to save up all that money!! edit to say: Yes I've seen them live!!! They have a lot of stage presence I must say, but the crowd just wasn't doing it from where I was standing.. Posts: 10 (05/28/08 08:56 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	glad to hear you give them a good review AND that you get a show. i just got my physical tickets in the mail for the 10 june show today! good mail day. glad to hear they put on a good show. i cant wait to see them first hand. im pumped to see what they end up doing for the set list. hopefully theyll play some new and old. ive been listening to them a lot lately, kinda "prepping" for the show. this latest album is really growing on me, although i liked it to start with. its cohesive, the songs flow well, and it tells are a great story from start to finish. lovvvvvvvving.
