2. Is Jason within his rights to support his candidate of choice via bumper sticker/blog/altered song lyrics/tattoo/skywriting, etc.? Yes.
3. Was the manner of his response disrespectful and counterproductive to both his immediate point and guiding principle of channeling love and positive energy? I think so.
I think the original comment was wrong-headed and rude, but I'm really disappointed in Jason's response. It may well have been a long time in coming, but I can't imagine this is something he'll be proud to remember, nor that he would approve of people sending hate mail. He has every right to defend himself, but doing so in an impetuous and insulting manner only turns people away from his message and produces the kind of negative consequences seen here. Yes, we all have moments when we lose it with others (maybe even deservedly)--hopefully we don't do it where thousands of people can see and react.
Lyndee, welcome to the board. Hope you'll stick around. I wouldn't reply to any more of the comments on Myspace, because it won't help your cause. Just let it blow over, and remember that in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't actually have to affect your daily life unless you let it.
