Oh my... these two do sound pretty darn similar....
I went to listen to David fully expecting to hear like no similarities, but I really do. I don't think he ripped it off, though. |

I really dont think they sound the same. Theres one chord in the chorus that I can hear it, but other than that.
i mean if the songs were both about being "lucky" or there was more of a similarity in the melody I would agree and say Jason ripped her off, but they are two totally different songs. whatevs *Jeannette* |

I do think they sound kinda similar. I think if one of your friends suggested listening to 'david' because they knew you like Jason and told you that
this song was similar to some of his songs, you'd probably agree, it's mainly because Perez is suggesting that Jason has 'stolen' it that
people don't want to hear a similarity. I certainly wanted to be able to say that they didn't sound alike, but i really think they do! Having said
that, i can't imagine Jason ever copying anyone - he's far too talented to need to do that, so I reckon this one is just down to coincidence.

I farted in my car this afternoon and it was complete plagiarism of one I had cut yesterday! Same tone, same time, same smell...I'll see my ass in court!!!

Haha, make sure to take it for all it's worth. I'm guessing not much.

I know I am late jumping in here but just listened to both on the website and started laughing immediately.
Both songs are a formulaic pop verse/verse/chorus style with rhyming at 2:4 & 5:6 (well Colbie's part does, we all know how Jason's rhyme "structure" is) Both songs have a simple beat I am failing to see any other similarities here. If Perez Hilton wanted to promote Nellie McKay he should have just written an article about Nellie McKay instead of bringing up her star on the coattails of Jason's. ~♫~ Jenn ~♫~
And I know my life it is sort of out of control

If there is a note or a chord it has probably already been discovered & played by someone so technically all music could be traced back to that first person. Its all stolen...which is I think one of the points he was making with that EP/the title of the album no? Edited to say song is Kryptonite by 3DD ~♫~ Jenn ~♫~

Perez would be better as a fat lesbian. At least then he would have an excuse for his poor sense of style.
Jason is cool in my book. |

... Yeah, the songs have completely different feels. There is one part that has a similar tune, but so what? It's a completely different song.

I've loved "David" for quite a while now (it's on the Weeds soundtrack!), and when I first heard "Lucky" I didn't even think
about connecting the two--even if the melody's a little similar at parts, the tones of the songs are entirely different. Methinks Perez is desperate for a
story now that Brit-Brit's got her shit together!

Meh, I do kinda hear the similarity in the chorus... | ||
|
But, it's not identical and I'm going to chalk it up to coincidence.
Like someone else said, though, Perez Hilton did nothing but a favor for Jason by posting that. Perez linked to a video I had posted on YouTube not long ago and I got 240,000 hits in less than 2 days (and 19 subscribers). |
